News from last month's meetings -
June
Brother Curtis Wilson presented a talk
concerning the expanded role of the National Guard in our Country's and
State's defenses at our first Stated Meeting. There was a very
impressive amount of information given including the fact that the Ohio
National Guard is in the forefront of the action in both State and
Federal deployments. Brother James Nicholas presented information on the
health and benefit programs available though the Veteran's
Administration to our Armed Forces personnel. Both Brethren answered a
number of questions that were asked by our Brethren bringing a lot of
information to our members. Continuing our special emphasis on Armed
Forces, Bro. Harry Weiss served MREs, Meals, Ready-to-Eat, for out
refreshments after Lodge.
A letter was read from R.W.B. Timothy
Strawn of the Ohio Masonic Home thanking the Lodge for its donation to
the Home's Paws...and More...for Pathways Program.
A motion was approved donating $100.00 to
Genoa Lodge that received extensive damage from a tornado that ripped
through the Toledo area earlier last month.
We received a letter from the Masonic
Service Association thanking the Lodge for its generous donation to help
in the relief of our Brethren in Tennessee who suffered from the massive
flooding that occurred in May.
W.B. Chagnot, our LEO, continued his
presentations of the Grand Lodge of Ohio recommended Masonic education
programs.
Some fifty+ people were in attendance to
witness the presentations of our service awards to a number of Brethren
at our Awards Night. Everyone enjoyed the buffet dinner before the
meeting which included our fifty and sixty year members being 'pinned'
by their ladies.
A presentation was made by Mr. Robert
Wagner of Summerfield Studios on the possibility of our Lodge having a
photo / phone directory of our members made. Details were given and
discussed. Mr. Wagner will be in attendance again to answer any other
questions at another meeting when the Lodge comes back from recess.
The Niles Temple Board representatives
finalized the sale and auction of the Niles Masonic Temple and presented
Niles McKinley Lodge with their share of the proceeds. A final
installment of funds will be made when all bank books and fees have been
cleared and finalized.
The Tibbetts Wick Masonic Association's
preliminary financial statement for 2009 was presented to the Lodge. A
professional audit of the Association's books will be completed during
the summer months with recommendations for modifications to the
Association's record keeping that might be needed. The official audit of
the Association will be presented at a later date.
Niles McKinley Lodge will be
participating with the other member organizations of the Liberty Masonic
Complex to raise funds at the Shaker Woods Festival in Columbiana during
August and at the Shaker Woods Christmas in October festivities. Help
will be needed over several weekends each of those monhs.
